LaCEM
The lab started in November of 2011 when I joined UFPel. Since then with resources from SCIT-RS through the program 'Apoio aos Polos Tecnologicos', CNPq, and CAPES we were able to build a lab that has enabled us to develop research projects using metabolomic approaches in the analysis of natural products and pesticides in different biological matrices.
We are located on Campus Capão do Leão, Department of Agroindustrial Science and Technology, Faculty of Agronomy Eliseu Maciel and part of the Graduate Program in Food Science and Technology (http://www.dctaufpel.com.br/) at UFPel (http://portal.ufpel.edu.br/en/).

Interests and collaborations
Currently, Dr. Maria Matyska-Pesek from San Jose State University in California is a visiting scientist in our lab who has helped us improve our analytical capabilities and introduced us to new silica hydride HPLC columns.
We collaborate with Dr. Leandro Dallagnol from the Crop Protection Department at UFPel on projects involving plant response to fungal pathogens as well as mycotoxin and fungicide residues in food crops.
We also collaborate with several researchers from Embrapa research stations including Dr. Luis Eduardo Antunes, Dr. Rodrigo Franzon, and Dr. Rosa Lia Barbieri from the Clima Temperado Station, working with small fruit, native species, and peppers, and with Dr. Cesar Girardi from the Uva e Vinho Station on apple postharvest quality.
Recently we have begun to collaborate with Dr. Dae-Kyun Ro at the University of Calgary on metabolic engineering of plant pathways in yeast using CRISPR-Cas9.
